UAE: Sharjah Police bust gold smuggling and recover jewelry worth Dh800,000

The Sharjah Police have successfully thwarted a major gold smuggling operation, intercepting jewelry valued at Dh800,000 that was stolen from a store in Khorfakkan during the late-night hours.

The prompt response from the Sharjah Police operations room followed a report detailing the robbery, leading to an immediate dispatch to the crime scene. A specialized team was swiftly assembled to collect evidence and initiate a thorough investigation into the incident.

After several hours of diligent investigation, the police were able to identify the members of the gang responsible for the robbery. Additionally, the stolen jewelry was traced to a shipping container at a port, where it was being prepared for transport out of the country the following morning. Currently, efforts are underway to apprehend the gang members, and the case has been referred to the prosecution for legal action to be taken.

In response to this incident, the Sharjah Police issued a call to owners of commercial establishments, urging them to reinforce security measures within their stores and install surveillance systems. Simultaneously, they emphasized the importance of individuals and business owners promptly utilizing the emergency number 999 to report any such incidents without hesitation.
