UAE Ministry announces a new expanded "Digital Procurement Platform" catalogue

Asma - | UAE

The Digital Procurement Platform catalog has been updated by the UAE Ministry of Finance and now includes 35 categories with more than 120,000 items and services offered by 230 companies.

This expansion is a major milestone in the nation's digital transformation efforts, especially in the area of government buying process optimization.

Described as a strategic and vital project, the Digital Procurement Platform aims to drive positive changes in terms of efficiency, transparency, and expenditure monitoring, according to a statement from WAM. The platform seeks to revolutionize traditional procurement processes and enhance overall procurement practices within the government.

During an event attended by representatives from over 30 federal entities, the ministry underscored the benefits of utilizing the platform's catalog compared to conventional methods. Notably, it reported a remarkable 75 percent reduction in procurement steps and a drastic decrease in the time required for the purchase process—from an average of 60 days to a mere six minutes.

The central procurement unit at the Ministry of Finance has diligently negotiated with suppliers to secure the best prices for the vast array of products and services available through the platform. Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, emphasized the collaborative efforts of the ministry and its partners in steering government procurement toward greater efficiency, transparency, and innovation.

Al Hussaini highlighted the digital procurement platform as a key component of the ministry's overarching strategic objectives, which include five major transformational projects. Among these projects, the Supply Strategy of the Federal Government stands out, aiming to expand the supplier base to support national economic growth and diversify procurement sources.

The newly added categories to the catalog encompass a wide range of services such as advertising, media, real estate insurance, travel, consulting, interior design, property management, information technology, and legal services. This comprehensive catalog reflects the ministry's commitment to meeting the diverse procurement needs of federal entities while ensuring competitive pricing and quality standards.
